Hey y’all, I’m Geoff and I’m the founder of Cat Bib.

I got the idea when my little feline friend Boromir had an upset tummy (next door kept feeding him cheese, he loves it). He’d just thrown up a fresh pile of Parmigiano Reggiano on the carpet and I thought, “what if there was some way of catching the cheesy vomit before it hits the ground?” I rested my chin on my fingers (like they do in the movies) and that’s when the idea smacked me plum square in the face. “Eurekat!” I shouted, and Cat Bib was born.

It was one part ‘super-duper exciting’ and one part ‘completely and utterly terrifying’ setting up my own business for the first time. After designing the product, I ordered loads of stock, but no one was buying it. ‘Dad, you were right - I am a failure after all!’ I thought. But I thought wrong...

The product worked, but my problem was that no-one knew about it - and those that did, didn’t really get it! What I needed was to present the idea in a short, snappy and visually engaging way. Cue my second god-like epiphany; “I need an explainer video!” I thunk.

I looked online, and quickly realised that there’s an awful lot of chaff out there. Eventually I came across Shy Guys Studios who helped me through the whole process, really got to understand the brand and created a kick ass explainer video! Boof!

Everything from then on got better and better. People were engaging with the brand, they knew how to use the product, and sales went through the roof.

After we reached 1000 sales, I made Boromir a joint shareholder. Since then, the business has gone from strength to strength; I’ve got a new convertible, and Boromir’s managed to save up enough money for a little house in the Italian countryside, where he sits and eats all the cheese he wants. Of course, he doesn’t spill a drop, thanks to the one and only Cat Bib (he still wears the Mk-1).
